What Is Diffuser Jewellery? Why Every Oil Lover Should Own Some
Posted on 20 August 2017
Aromatherapy is an ancient healing therapy that dates back to ancient Egyptian times. It involved the use of pure essential oils to treat, influence or modify the mind, body and spirit to promote health and wellbeing.
Diffuser jewellery is a wearable way to experience aromatherapy, using specific materials that will hold and disperse the oil fragrance as carriers for the oils. I've chosen to use lava beads because of their interesting look and feel. Lava rock is associated with grounding and fertility.
Lava rock is formed when molten rock erupts from a volcano, causing it to cool and solidify into a porous rock. The porous properties of the lava rock make this the perfect carrier for your oils. The rock is fashioned into beads, which are lightweight and textured.
How to Use Your Lava Bead Diffuser
We recommend adding essential oils to the lava beads when the jewellery is not being worn to minimise contact with the skin.
- Add 1-2 drops of essential oil to the lava bead.
- Rub the oil gently into the bead.
- Leave for a few minutes while the oil absorbed.
- Wear your jewellery and enjoy the beautiful aromatic benefits of your essential oils.
Who is it for?
Anyone who likes jewellery and smelling divine can enjoy diffuser jewellery.
For therapeutic benefit, we recommend consulting a qualified aromatherapist to determine the right oils for you.
How long does it last?
Depending on the jewellery, the size and number of lava beads and the oil used, the fragrance can last anywhere from a day to a week.
Can I use different oils?
Of course! Once the scent has dissipated, simply apply a new oil. Or to create your own blend of fragrance, you can layer a new oil over the scent.
Which oils should I use?
We advise avoiding oils that are not recommended for contact with the skin when using diffuser jewellery as some contact may occur.
Other than that you can use any oils you like to receive the benefits diffused throughout the day! You can even layer oils to create your own blend right there on the spot.
Some oil suggestions:
Lavender: To relieve stress or tension and for relaxation.
Rosemary: For improving focus and concentration.
Eucalyptus: Helps with colds and sinuses.
Ylang Ylang: Relieve anxiety and stress and improving mood.
Sandalwood: Use during meditation for clarity and focus.
As always, I recommend consulting with a qualified aromatherapist before using oils, particularly in pregnancy or with particular health conditions.
